Capri Gelato and Coffee Bar Becomes a Coastal Favorite in Marina Del Rey and Hermosa Beach

In a region known for its beach culture and culinary creativity, Capri Gelato and Coffee Bar has carved out a loyal following by doing something refreshingly simple. It focuses on quality, consistency, and heart.

With locations in Marina Del Rey and Hermosa Beach, Capri Gelato and Coffee Bar offers authentic Italian gelato, expertly crafted coffee, and fresh baked pastries in a relaxed coastal setting. Locals often describe it as the best gelato and coffee by the beach, and after one visit, it is easy to see why.

The story of Capri begins with its founders, Robert and Mary, a husband and wife team whose combined expertise spans decades. Robert is an award winning gelato chef who refined his craft in Maui, where he worked closely with local farms and learned the importance of ingredient integrity. His gelato is made using traditional Italian methods, premium imported ingredients, and fresh produce. The result is a product that is rich, balanced, and unmistakably authentic.

Mary brings more than fifteen years of experience in specialty coffee. Her background includes crafting espresso drinks with precision and care, from classic cappuccinos to creative lattes that have become customer favorites. Together, the couple previously operated a highly successful gelato and coffee shop in Lahaina, earning top honors for both dessert and coffee.

Capri’s Los Angeles journey gained early attention when the brand served gelato at the Golden Globe Awards in twenty nineteen, followed by a return appearance with an espresso cart the following year. These high profile events led to catering opportunities with major brands including Amazon, Snapchat, and Gucci.

As the events business expanded, Capri opened its first café in Marina Del Rey. Despite opening during a challenging period for small businesses, the café quickly became a neighborhood staple. In twenty twenty two, Capri expanded to Hermosa Beach, where it was warmly welcomed by the community.

Today, Capri Gelato and Coffee Bar offers more than just desserts and drinks. Customers can enjoy dairy free sorbettos, freshly baked pastries made daily, online ordering, wholesale options, and catering services for events across Los Angeles. The cafés are also dog friendly, offering complimentary pup cups that have become a hit with local pet owners.

Capri’s success is rooted in its mission to create moments of joy. By blending Italian tradition with California sensibility, the café delivers an experience that feels both familiar and special. Whether stopping in for a morning espresso, an afternoon gelato, or a shared treat after the beach, Capri continues to earn its reputation as a standout small business on the Southern California coast.

For Marina Del Rey and Hermosa Beach residents, Capri Gelato and Coffee Bar is more than a café. It is part of the neighborhood, one scoop and one cup at a time.
